I’m playing volleyball for the first time and I’m not sure of what volleyball shoes are exactly. So can anyone explain to me the difference and tell me whether I can use regular athletic shoes or running shoes instead?

Volleyball shoes are built so you can move quickly and react quickly as well. They’re light so you can be really active with your feet and get to the ball in a short period of time. They’re indoor court shoes so the soles are made differently. They’re usually flatter than running shoes. Running shoes are made so that you can run for long distances outside. It’s kind of hard to explain but i would suggest getting volleyball shoes.

Volleyball shoes are built to be light. They give with your body weight to protect your knees when you’re jumping. Something about the way they’re built gives you a quicker reaction time and the generally have a good, lasting grip to keep you from sliding. The balls of your feet have more padding because you stand on them most often.

Email me if you need anything, I know a place that can get you great quality volleyball shoes for a lot cheaper than normal stores.

The two answers above are pretty good, and here’s a brand of vb shoes.

Asics. They are really good vb shoes, and i use them. at first they look REALLY heavy, but when you put them on, they’re really light!

if you are a new comer to volleyball you probably wont need the shoes they are mainly for a higher jump to spike and if u are in club ball and go to tournaments they help when you have to stay on your toes for 6 hours. when you are more committed you should get them but they are NOT mandatory

volleyball shoes r made specifically for volleyball: it has good traction and grip. it is also very light weight for quick movement. usually it has a flat bottom part while running shoes have elevated shocks when you jump hurdles and stuff.
running shoes: are light weight but are made for running. in volleyball you dont run too much so running shoes arent realy built for volleyball.

if your new to volleyball i suggest buying running shoes bcuz there really is any need to spend more money for volleyball shoes when running shoes can be used for more than one activity. running shoes are also cheaper. but if your an experienced volleyball player i suggest volleyball shoes if you are commited to the sport.

There is no big difference. All you need is flat surfaced shoes to play well in volleyball. I have played volleyball for about 6 years and i have used Puma’s which were track shoes. (I recommend getting Puma’s or Nike’s)

Regular athletic shoes like running shoes are fine, too.But if you are trying out for a high school team or something, you probably want volleyball shoes, but if you are just playing in a recreational league, most people just have like running shoes or athletic shoes.
