What is the best way to clean climbing shoes?

I have a pair of Red Chili Sausalito climbing shoes which I normally climb indoors with. Recently I used them outside and they have become quite dirty. The main problem now is that some of the black colour of the sole has transferred onto the red part of the shoe and won’t come off. What is the best way to clean them without damaging the shoe? I have seen lots of advice on websites for leather shoes but these are suede and the red dye also seems to transfer when wet.

I’ve recently gotten into indoor climbing and I was wondering what kind of climbing shoes to get. Price isn’t an object. I know 5:10 is a good company but I don’t know of other companies that are good. They make so many different types, I have no idea what kind I should get. Any information is great. Thanks!

Molly D asked:

I recently began rock climbing and am about to join a gym, so I will be climbing more frequently and I would like to buy shoes rather than use the sub-par rentals. I spend most of my time bouldering, but I am not sure if I should get boulder shoes or all purpose shoes since I am still a beginner. I would love any and all helpful info, what brands are best, what type of shoe to look for, what I a good shoe consists of, etc. Thanks a bunch!
