Skittles asked:

I have a clay-court tournament coming up, and I have not played on the surface in a while. I am wondering if it is worth buying shoes designed specifically for clay surfaces – Or will my hard shoes do the same job?

So far the Nike Air Max Court Ballistec 1.2 shoes are the ones I’m leaning towards. I’m trying to find a decent tennis shoe that is durable/lightweight and no more than $80. I just started playing tennis again so I’m not really sure which shoes are good.

I always have trouble with my feet being wide and fitting into shoes, and tennis shoes are no exception. Almost all of the women’s shoes I try feel too tight to the point my feet feel numb. So I’m wondering, would Men’s shoes work better for my wide feet? Are men’s shoes essentially like women’s shoes, except bigger and wider? And if I wear size 9 shoes, what would that translate into men’s sizes?

Tennis shoes and running shoes don’t really look different from each other. Do I need to have a pair of running shoes AND a pair of tennis shoes to be able to be on my school’s varsity tennis team? I know for lacrosse, I needed a pair of running shoes to jog and cleats for actual games and practices. Does that go same for tennis, too?

I need the best shoes that would give me great stablity. I am a female and have pronated feet. I’m also kind of short (5′2″) and am 15 years old. I have a small frame but not THAT small. I would also like something that makes it easier for me to shuffle step. I also have a tendancy to come too late to the ball and move too slow with my feet. I would really like something that would help me with that and give me more support. Mabye not something too expensive though.

Where can I go buy it?
(Mabye Lady Foot Locker? More prefferably a store and not online because I want to actually try them on first.)

How do I know it fits me well?
I meant like brands or types of tennis shoes. DUH. I know tennis shoes would be best for playing tennis.
